Considering surgery can feel very daunting.

Dr Chris Oosthuizen is a Rhinoplasty and ENT surgeon with over 15 years’ experience. He is a recognised specialist surgeon in ear, nose, and throat surgery, with specialised training in rhinoplasty surgery from both a functional and aesthetic background.

Dr Oosthuizen is accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He is also qualified as a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, one of the oldest and most established Surgical Colleges in the world.

At the first appointment Dr Chris Oosthuizen will ask patients to share their concerns.

Dr Oosthuizen will then take a medical history related to those concerns and conduct an examination of the nose. This typically includes a telescope/camera test of the inside of the nose as well to assess function.

Part of the assessment also involves a number of questionnaires to explore the impact your nasal symptoms have on your day-to-day activities.

Dr Chris Oosthuizen will then advise whether surgery is likely to help, and what it would involve and explain the benefits and considerations of this surgery.

After your first appointment you will be better informed about the next best steps to address your concerns and the outcomes you can realistically expect from surgery.

You will likely be provided with additional information about treatment options and should you wish to explore this further, a longer, second appointment will be scheduled.

You will need to bring a referral from your GP for your first visit with Dr. Oosthuizen.

It would help if you can also bring a copy of your medical history or any other documents you feel might be relevant. If you have any copies of scans, bring those too or ask your GP to email them to us.

Our fees are set with reference to the guidance published by the Australian Medical Association.

You will be given a written quote setting out the surgeon’s, anaesthetist’s and hospital fees, with expected rebates and out of pocket costs, before you decide whether to proceed.
